Access Point Names for Mobile Networks in Saudi Arabia

Access Point Names for Internet Configuration in Mobile

Often it happens with Smartphone or tablet users. When they buy a non-branded (china phone or tablet) and they insert a data sim-card, they are unable to browse internet and unable to use Internet based applications on the tablet or Smartphone. For example YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or whatsapp.

Unlike this, branded Smartphones and tablets are having different kind of behavior and great intelligence inside. Branded Smartphones of Samsung, Huawei, Lenavo, Toshiba or LG does not bother users to create access points when they install sim-card in new device.

So to solve this problem on Non-branded devices, you may require creating an access point if you want to use internet via data sim-card. For convenience of readers I am writing below setting of Access Point for Network operators in Kingdom, Mobily, STC and Zain.

  1. Firstly Go to Settings
  2. Wireless and networks (In some devices, it is under More Networks)
  3. Mobile Networks
  4. Choose Access Point Names
  5. Choose from the menu New APN
  6. Write as follows

Access Point Setting for STC

  • Name: JAWALNet
  • APN: jawalnet.com.sa
  • APN type: default / Internet
  • Authentication type: PAP

Access Point Setting for Mobily

  • Name: mobily web
  • APN: web2
  • APN type: default / Internet

Access Point Setting for Zain

  • Name: zain-gprs
  • APN: zain
  • MMSC: http://10.122.200.010
  • MMS proxy: 10.122.200.010
  • MMS port: 8080
  • MMC: 420
  • MNC: 04
  • APN type – default, mms,supl
  • APN protocol: IPv4

For Zain, you may ignore some MMS setting above if you are not interested in sending MMS from your device.

Some settings you may ignore for all operators e.g. Proxy, Port, Username, Password, Server etc

Leave them whatever they are, if there are any values in that don’t change it.

After completing above configuration if you are unable to connect to Internet from your smartphone or tablet device.

Android Tip: Copy Sim Contacts to Gmail Account

transfer-sim-contacts-to-gmail-contacts

I spent long time on Play Store in search of an app that can copy contacts from my sim card to my Gmail account. I found few apps that claim they can copy sim contact to another type of storage like phone storage or sd card.

None of them worked for me, what I required exactly. Most smart phone users might familiar with the fact that sim card contacts storage doesn’t offer enough features. Like adding multiple mobile numbers, adding an email address or picture or address of a contact person.

These are features which are required in today’s era. There is an option to store such details in your phone storage as well. Most smartphones allow you to add pictures of contacts & email addresses. However I prefer Gmail (Google Account contacts) storage because in case you have changed your phone you don’t have to go through making a backup of existing contacts in your old phone and then import into your new phone. This may cause you loosing some of your data that is related with contacts. Smartphone manufacturers claim that their built-in apps can do the whole transfer process with ease but still I prefer to stay in the safe side and using Gmail as my default contact storage.

Previously my contacts were in sim card storage so I required to copy them into Gmail account, upon failure in finding a perfect app for this at play store, I discovered a simple and straight forward step of accomplishing this task.

I found this information in some google forums.

  1. Go to Contacts, tap on small menu button.
  2. Tap on Import/Export and choose Import from SIM card
  3. You will be asked to choose a Target (Device, Google etc). Choose Google Account
  4. Select Sync Contacts

Take a look at below screen shot for reference. I hope it will be helpful to you.

Write in Nastaleeq Font at WordPress.com Blogs

Basically it was an email to one of my friends regarding “How to Write in Nastaleeq fonts at WordPress.com Blogs”. WordPress.com blogs offer a basic variety of features while writing posts but there are few restrictions as well. You cannot change fonts, you have to stick to Default font that is used in theme CSS files. It becomes a problem when writing in Urdu at WordPress.com blogs. Because Urdu has a different set of fonts in which the text becomes beautiful and comfortable to read. Like Naskh font, Nastaleeq Font etc.

You can also use other features like Bold, Italics and Headings while writing a post in WordPress.com blog.

When you click Add New post, You will find buttons for Bold , Italic etc that can be seen in the picture below. There are also Heading sizes in formatting bar. You can use Heading 1, 2, 3 as per requirement.

If you want to change overall text size and you want to take control of it, you have to move to HTML mode.

First of all, align all your text as needed, right or left or center in normal mode. Then click the HTML button on the right side of editor. and add the HTML code in the beginning.

For Tahom font with size 4

<font face=”Tahoma” size=”4″ >

For Jameel urdu font with size 3

<font face=”Jameel Noori Nastaleeq” size=”3″ >

At the ending, just put another small code for both of above.

</font>
